How do I keep white trainers white?

This is the question with white trainers, and the answer starts before you wear them. A protector spray on the clean, dry shoe is the single most effective thing you can do — it stops dirt bonding to the surface, so it wipes off rather than soaking in. After that, little and often beats one big clean: a damp cloth on leather after a wet day, and a soft brush on any fabric panels. For the sole, a little white toothpaste on an old toothbrush lifts scuffs surprisingly well. Leather or fabric — which white trainer lasts longer?

Leather, by a distance. A white leather trainer wipes clean, resists scuffs, and ages into a soft cream rather than a grubby grey. Fabric and mesh uppers breathe better and weigh less, but they hold dirt and are much harder to bring back once marked. If you want a white trainer that still looks good in six months, leather is the safer buy — and most of the styles here are leather for exactly that reason.

Do you have white trainers with a side zip?

Yes — several of the white styles here have a zip at the inside ankle, from Gabor, Marco Tozzi, Rieker, Jana and Paul Green. You set the laces once and never touch them again, which is handy generally and genuinely useful if bending or retying laces is a struggle. It's worth having in white specifically, because a white lace-up gets grubby fastest at exactly the point you're handling it.

Are white trainers true to size?

It depends on the brand. These come from several different makers and each fits a little differently, so the sizing note on the individual product is the one to go by rather than any general rule.
