Ladies Wedge Boots
A wedge boot gives you height without the wobble of a heel, which is why it's the boot so many of our customers wear from October to March. Our collection runs from everyday low wedges of around 5cm to chunkier platform styles of 7cm, in ankle boots, knee boots, sock boots and Chelsea boots with elastic sides. You'll find wedges from Gabor, Rieker, Remonte, Paul Green, Jose Saenz and Susst, in soft leathers, suedes and warm-lined textiles. Black and brown lead the colours, with burgundy, leopard print and a few metallic finishes for something different. Shop with us in Skerries, Co. Dublin, or online with free delivery on orders over €69 and free returns within 30 days.
Are wedge boots easier to walk in than heels?
For most people, yes. A wedge runs the full length of the sole, so you're standing on a solid base rather than balancing on a narrow heel, and it grips better on wet pavements and uneven ground. That's what makes a wedge the practical way to add height to a winter boot. If you're not used to height at all, a low wedge of around 5cm is a comfortable place to start.
What does a platform add to a wedge?
A platform raises the front of the sole as well as the back, so a boot feels lower than its heel height suggests. A 7cm wedge with a 2.5cm platform, for example, angles your foot no more than a much lower boot would. It's the easiest way to get real height with less pressure on the front of the foot, and the heel and platform heights are listed on every product so you can compare.
Do wedge boots come in wider fittings?
Some do. A number of the wedges in this collection are made on an H fitting, the wide fitting, or the UK EE. The fitting is stated on every product that has one, and our wide fit footwear (H & EE) section has everything we stock in H and EE. Many wedge boots also have a removable insole, if you wear an orthotic.
Are wedge boots true to size?
It depends on the brand, and sometimes on the style, so the sizing note on the individual product is the one to go by. Where a style fits small or large, its product page says so. A wedge tips the foot forward slightly, so check you have room at the toes when you try them on. Try new boots indoors on carpet first, and if you're unsure about a style, give us a call on 01 8490847.
