Ara boots are ankle boots built for real winter wear. The range runs from lace-up ankle boots in leather, suede and patent to the long-running Osaka leather ankle boots, front-zip Tulsa boots, a dressier pointed-toe style on a low heel, and waterproof Gore-Tex boots for the wettest days, one of them warm-lined as well. Which Ara boots are waterproof?
The Gore-Tex styles, and every one says Gore-Tex in its name. Gore-Tex forms a waterproof lining that wraps right around the foot, underneath included, so they'll see you through puddles and sustained rain, not just a shower. The rest of the range isn't waterproofed, so look for Gore-Tex if you're walking any distance in winter.
Do Ara boots fit wider feet?
Yes, which is why they're among our most recommended boots. Every Ara boot we stock is made on a G, slightly wider than standard, or an H, the wide fitting with extra depth across the tread, and it's stated on every product. Because a boot sits higher on the foot than a shoe, that extra room across the joints makes a real difference. Nearly all have a removable insole too, if you wear an orthotic.
